Rita Ora Is ‘Living’ for This Ice-Powered Face Mask

When a celebrity posts about a skin-care product not once but twice (!!) in a matter of a few days, you know it has to be good. And that’s exactly what Rita Ora did this past weekend.

On Saturday, Ora shared a bathrobe-clad selfie on her Instagram Stories, showing off a translucent (almost futuristic-looking) face mask. “I’m living for my mask @charlottetilbury,” she wrote. “It’s honestly a life saver.”

Fast forward to Sunday morning and the singer posted yet another selfie on her Stories — this time, however, from a moving car. And while she doesn’t offer any specifics, Ora appears to be wearing the same sheet mask she lauded just hours earlier. So what is this product, exactly? And what’s so great about it that has Ora “living” for it?

Introducing — drum roll, please — the Charlotte Tilbury Cryo-Recovery Face Mask sheet mask that’s designed to provide a firmer, smoother, more lifted, and refreshed look in just 10 minutes. And it’s all thanks to a combo of cryotherapy (extreme cold temperatures) and facial accupressure (an ancient massage therapy practice).

Here’s the deal: The mask includes pockets of cooling gel beads to address specific areas of the face such as the chin, forehead, cheeks, and undereyes. And just like when you use an ice roller, “the cooling constricts blood vessels, which leaves skin looking tighter and temporary decreasing redness, making for an overall fresher and brighter appearance,” dermatologist Rachel Nazarian, M.D., previously told Shape. It also can potentially reduce inflammation, thereby helping to combat any puffiness. (This is also one of the reasons why cryotherapy is often used for muscle relief.)

If you looked closely at Ora’s Instagram Stories, you might’ve noticed a few silver disks on the mask. And if you’re anything like me, you probably thought to yourself, “WTF are those magnets?” Well, hate to disappoint, but they’re not magnets. Rather, these circles are cooling metal beads that are purposely positioned along the brows to target acupressure points. The aim? To relieve tension in your face.

Now, the Cryo-Recovery Mask doesn’t just pop out of the packaging chilly and ready to refresh even the dullest of skin. You first need to pop it in the freezer for at least 30 minutes before placing it on your clean skin and securing the top and bottom velcro straps to ensure it stays in place. Then, when the 10 minutes of mask time are up, simply wipe the product clean and slip it into its pouch for the next time your skin needs a quick pick-me-up — which, let’s be honest, can feel like always these days.
