Runway shows are familiar territory for Helena Christensen, who most recently walked in an emotional Off-White show – the late Virgil Abloh’s final collection – at Paris Fashion Week. And when she’s not stalking the catwalk, she’s making her fashion presence felt on the front row.
To attend Sarah Burton’s off-schedule autumn/winter 2022 show for Alexander McQueen in New York, the Scandi super chose the brand’s dusty pink suit, comprising a boxy double-breasted jacket and flowing trousers, which she paired with McQueen’s spiky studded heels and a box clutch. The louche silhouette was the perfect balance of smart and slouchy – classic, but with a fashion twist. A visually pleasing contrast to her pastel tailoring came via Helena’s bold beauty look: she drew attention to her famous pout with a pop of bright red lipstick that matched her pendant necklace.
While Helena made a quiet statement in her suit, other guests opted to wear McQueen’s more avant-garde looks. Letitia Wright sported punkish leather; Danai Gurira wore a bralette studded with jewels; and model Selah Marley breezed through the Brooklyn show venue in a lemon-yellow tulle gown.
Burton’s showcase offered plenty of tailoring for Helena to choose from next season. The presentation featured a highlighter-green suit; a white suit sprayed with yellow and black graffiti; a cut-out blazer dress, and a zingy fluoro yellow suit – all of which Helena could pull off with ease.
