Drag Race UK star Pixie Polite has shared RuPaul’s comments that didn’t make the final cut.
The Brighton queen ended up fifth in the fourth season of the British version of the drag competition. In an exclusive chat with Digital Spy, she opened up on the nicest things Mama Ru had said to her but fans didn’t get to hear on the show.
“She praised my makeup a lot, and she said I was made for the theatre…” Pixie revealed.
“She said, ‘You’re so likeable and charismatic. Even if you’re doing a dance and you do a step wrong, I’m just enjoying watching you, and willing you to succeed.’ She said, ‘I’ve been following you for years, and I’m so proud of you.’ You know, all these things.”
Pixie referred to her stint on Drag Race UK as a “dream come true”.
“It’s very surreal. It was very much, as a whole, a ‘dream come true’ experience. I couldn’t ask for anything better. I had great critiques. I made great friends. I did myself proud. I’m proud of my runways. And I did it. I got to the end. I can’t ask for anything more, to be honest with you.”
Talking about her experience with the judges on the show, Pixie felt every criticism was constructive.
“It all felt like they were willing me to do well, and that was really nice, because it didn’t feel like a critique,” she said.
“It felt like I was in a mentorship programme, and they were giving me my feedback.”
RuPaul’s Drag Race UK airs on BBC Three in the UK and streams on WOW Presents Plus in the US.
